Safe Drive Save Life

The **International Human Rights Commission and Council (IHRCC)** organized the **“Safe Drive Safe Life”** program as a part of its ongoing commitment to protect and promote fundamental human rights — especially the *right to life and safety*.

Road safety is not only a traffic issue; it is a serious human rights concern. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives or suffer severe injuries due to road accidents caused by negligence, overspeeding, drunk driving, lack of awareness, and violation of traffic rules. The right to life and personal security is guaranteed under **Article 21 of the Constitution of India**, and protecting citizens from preventable road accidents is directly linked to safeguarding this constitutional right.

The main objectives behind organizing the “Safe Drive Safe Life” program were:

1. **To Create Awareness:** Educate drivers, pedestrians, students, and the general public about traffic rules and responsible driving habits.
2. **To Prevent Road Accidents:** Encourage the use of helmets, seat belts, and strict adherence to traffic regulations.
3. **To Promote Civic Responsibility:** Inspire citizens to respect the law and value human life.
4. **To Support Government Initiatives:** Work in coordination with local authorities and traffic departments to strengthen road safety campaigns.
5. **To Protect Human Dignity:** Reduce injuries and fatalities that cause emotional, social, and financial hardship to families.

Through seminars, rallies, workshops, and community outreach programs, IHRCC aimed to spread the message that safe driving is a social responsibility. The program emphasized that every life is precious and that a small act of carelessness can lead to irreversible loss.

By organizing the “Safe Drive Safe Life” program, the International Human Rights Commission and Council reaffirmed its dedication to building a safer, more responsible, and humane society where the right to life is respected and protected at all times.
